    What is an Idita-Rider?

Each year the Iditarod Trail Committee holds an auction-style fundraiser where Iditarod fans bid for the privilege to ride in the basket of a musher's sled for the first eleven miles of the race. Winning bidders are known as Idita-Riders. The proceeds are used as prize money (usually $1,049) for mushers who finish below 30th place.

I will be riding with Al Hardman this year.
