Best of the Web
This section has not been updated since 1999; there may be broken links.
To tell the truth, what's best about the internet
can't be listed here. Most of what will
end up here (because this is just started)
is stuff that a good library will get for
you much quicker. The best of the internet
. . . is people.
And the quickest way to real people
on the web are newsgroups. If you're
not familiar with newsgroups, check out deja.com.
You could spend hours or weeks researching something,
or you could locate a specialist who can get
you straightened out in no time. People
tend to answer e-mail, too. Ever think
of contacting that famous person who changed
your life? Or the author of the book
you're reading now? To a surprising
degree, people are willing to respond to perfect
strangers, to offer help merely because they
are pleased to do so.
Speaking of which, do you know of any great sites that
I should know about? Mail
me the location!
