Welcome to our study of the 2002
Iditarod!
With the help of the internet, our class is
following the Iditarod sled dog race across Alaska. We are integrating
many skills into this study, which include using the internet
to access information about the race, writing weather reports,
recording and graphing the temperature in Alaska and Vermont,
writing news summaries about the race, and reporting all of the
information back to the class.
Each student has randomly chosen five or six
mushers to follow throughout the race and keeps track of those
mushers throughout the race.
We track the daily standings of all mushers
on a map in the hallway using flag pins as mushers. This is how
the rest of the school follows the progress of the race and all
of the news.
