Dora Maone Recognized for

Daily Contributions to

Cottage Hospital

The Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer of 2000 award for the state of New Hampshire was awarded to Dora Maone, an RSVP volunteer. Reita Jones, Director of Volunteers Services for Cottage Hospital, nominated Dora for this prestigious award.

In Reita’s own words, "In 1996 Dora started out as a volunteer in the hospital gift shop, working one or more afternoons a week. She could always be counted on to fill in for other volunteers when needed. In May 1997, we started a ‘greeter’ program. This is when Dora’s friendly and loving personality really started to shine. Not only did she greet and assist patients and visitors, she also did a great deal of filing and other paperwork for the business office. Sometimes, she was even called upon to baby-sit patients’ children."

Now settled into the new wing, which opened in February 2000, Dora contributes more than 40 hours each week to Cottage Hospital. RSVP salutes Dora for her dedication to the Hospital, and for her commitment to volunteering.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program meets compelling community needs by recruiting and referring volunteers aged 55+ to work in partnership with local non-profit organizations and municipalities.
