RSVP Online Newsletter March 1996

Littleton Hospital is just one of the many organizations with which RSVP of the Upper Valley and White Mountains (VT/NH) works to get things done in the White Mountains.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program's services are free to the volunteers and organizations we serve.

An RSVP Station Profile...
Littleton Hosptial

Our RSVP members serving Littleton Hospital bring fresh energy and are a very important resource to all the hospital staff. Barbara Morrow, Director of Volunteers and Community Relations says, "As healthcare providers we very much appreciate the smiles and encouragement the volunteers bring. We take care of the patients, and the volunteers kind of take care of us. That really is nice."

In such diverse capacities as receptionists, gift shop clerks, physical therapy aides, hospitality cart volunteers, lifeline installers, patient escorts, helping in clerical, purchasing, gardening, medical library, and with special mailings, the RSVP volunteers fill the bill! Some volunteers are seasoned by decades of volunteering, and for many Littleton Hospital is a place where friendships have blossomed. RSVP volunteers find that respect and support exist for working together. It is wonderful to see how maturity creates empathy for every person's life experiences whether in loss or in happiness.

"The two volunteers who install the Lifelines are terrific! Achilline Herbert has the people skills and her husband, Clayton, has great technical skill," commented Barbara Morrow. She spoke highly of all the volunteers, of course, and calls Fred Hart, "Outstanding."

RSVP volunteer Pat Campbell says, "I worked for 24 years as a registered nurse at Littleton Hospital, and when I retired I volunteered there because I had such appreciation for the volunteers who have helped over the years." And, Ethel Mohr, a volunteer for over 20 years commented, "It keeps me going helping others while really enjoying what I do as a volunteer in the gift shop."

Littleton Hospital provides a pleasant environment and great support systems. Check in today for a quick diagnosis of your talents. You will appreciate the treatment you receive!
