Overview of RSVP

Of the Upper Valley and White Mountains

RSVP mobilizes older volunteers to deliver creative solutions to community needs through meaningful use of their skills and experience in volunteer service to public and private non-profit agencies. Locally, RSVP works in partnership with about forty agencies in the Upper Valley and thirty more in the White Mountain region. Last year, 495 RSVP volunteers contributed over 76,761 hours of service to non-profit and public agencies in Grafton County, New Hampshire and northern Windsor County, Vermont. While the community benefited from their service, the volunteers also enjoyed the self-esteem and sense of involvement which comes with such service.

In 1971, as part of a tri-county program in Grafton, Carroll and Coos Counties, the Grafton County area was one of eleven RSVP pilot projects in the country. It has since separated and grown as has RSVP throughout the nation. Currently there are 762 projects throughout the United State, supporting over 445,700 volunteers.

RSVP of the Upper Valley and White Mountains is a part of the National Senior Service Corps, administered by The Corporation for National and Community Service. The project is locally sponsored by Grafton County Senior Citizens Council, Inc. RSVP operates with federal, state, county, and United Way grants, and also generates funds through its own efforts.
