In the name of God Amen. I John Townsend Senr. of county of Accomack in Virginia; being now weak in body but of a perfect memory Plead to God for _____ _____ _____ and order this be my last will and testament in manner and forms as _______ firm principally I ________ and my soul into ye hands of Almighty God hoping mercy only through ye intercession of my Savior Jesus Christ and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executor hereafter mentioned.The written last will and testament was proved in open court of Accomack County by ye oath of John Morris and Walter Warrenton and order to be recorded March 4, 1709.First I will that all my just debts be paid and funeral expenses be paid.
Second I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Townson my plantation where _____ _____ _____ and being on Killanke branch of Accomack County containing one hundred acres of land to sd. Richard and his heyers and also one cow and heifer _____ the _____ _____ to place in the house for the good of ye family.
Thirdly I give unto my wife Faith Townson one feather bed and the _____ and my largest iron pott & frying pan and
Fourthly I give unto my son Henry Townson one cow and two years old _____ and my plow and _____ plow & cart _____.
Fifthly I give unto my daughter Mary Townson one iron pott and my A___ and and all carpenter touls to continue in my house for ye use of my family. She wait a while now _____ _____ _____
Sixthly I will that all my eight sheep be equally divided between my said wife and Richard and Mary my son and daughter.
Seventhly I will that all the remaining part of my estate be equally divided _____ my sd. wife and son Henry and my daughter Mary Townsend except one shilling apeace I give unto my son John Townson & James Townson my daughter Easter Fornne and my daughter Ann Norwood.
Eightly I will that my son sd. above Richard in consideration of ye sd. land _____ pay unto my son Henry and my daughter Mary eache of them four hundred pounds of good tobacco in cash conveniently.
Ninthly I do ordain constitute & appoint my wife aforesd to be my executrix of this my last will and testament and my desire is that John Morris and Walter Warranton to divide as above sd. according to this my will and in testimony of the same I have hereunto set my hand this 11 day of February 1709.
